Mens Edition: WFH Outfits That Aren't Pj's
Pajama pants. Other than smoked meats, they might be the next best invention. If you're one of the many working from home these days you know the struggle is real getting motivated enough to change out of your pj's. If it's not pj's then it's your favorite sweats—the ones that make you forget you're even wearing bottoms. Shoot, maybe this quarantine has given you time to reflect on the social conventions of wearing pants and you've decided it's an archaic practice that needs to end so you've adopted a business-on-top-underroo-party on the bottom lifestyle. And hey, that's totally cool, no judgement here. I feel the same about bras. For those days when actual clothes are in order, I've got a couple of easy, comfortable, and presentable options that will disguise any indication of your happy hour lunches.
Pocket Tee With Woven 5-Pocket Pants
While a tee of Johnny Cash giving an enthusiastic middle finger salute might reflect the sentiment behind a Friday afternoon meeting, it's probably not the best choice for collaborating with the peeps from the office. A solid pocket t-shirt is a much more polished alternative to a graphic style for work meetings. It's also comfortable AF and functional. Wear it solo or layered (more on that next) with a soft zip-up hoodie and woven 5-pocket pants and you're good to go! Woven pants made with a bit of stretch (2% spandex) can feel just as comfortable as joggers. The upside, no wardrobe change when you have to step out to snag that new barrel pick bourbon.
Shorts With A Short Sleeve Button-Up
The possibilities that shorts present are endless. Wanna do lunges? Go ahead! Feel like dipping your feet in the pool while reading your email? Go for it buddy! Shorts are an awesome go-to when working from home because they're comfortable and easy to wear. While a tuxedo print t-shirt seems like a genius way to elevate your shorts, there are better options. A short sleeve button-up goes a long way in polishing up your home office look. If this style conjures up images of lowly Office Space character Milton Waddams, then your fashion sense is as misguided as the notion that more flair is better. The short sleeve shirt has evolved from middle-aged man in mid-level role to cool guy who gives zero f*&^s about TPS reports. Because of this shirt's casual sleeve length, you can be more adventurous with the print. Push your estilo (aka style) limits by going for a quirky pattern that says I like to mix business with pleasure. And when people know you mean business, they'll think twice about swiping your red Swingline stapler.
Jeans and a Thermal
Jeans are the Swiss army knife of bottoms. They may be worthless in defending yourself if you somehow end up alone in a dark alley with some Terminator-looking-mo-fo, but they will be able to take your look from day to night. And that type of versatility could be a real lifesaver if you're short on time because you've been spending the majority of it trying to get that latest project in the can while simultaneously rewatching The Sopranos. Kudos to you on that stellar multi-tasking by the way! Equally as functional is the thermal. It's the perfect shirt during fall—not too heavy and not too light. A true goldilocks item that is essential to any wardrobe. Get a fall-ready look by picking up a version in olive, burgundy, or if you're feeling frisky—teal green or plum. Add a pair of hybrid sneakers you can dress up or down (Allbirds are a stylish and comfortable brand) and you can just fuggedaboutit!
