Where To Shop If You're A Full-figured Fashion Queen

As an alum of the fluffy fashionista club, I know for a fact that the size 16+ fashion scene is lacking as much pizzazz as a rice cake. Back in the 90's when I weighed 200 pounds it was a sad state of affairs finding something that was fashionable and flattering. I wasn't interested in looking curtain-chic, so I turned to shoes and accessories to turn my versatile basics into fresh-off-the-runway-inspired looks. Get out the way, Cindy Crawford, I'm here to werk!

2020 is a much better time for the curvy gal. It's not quite my full-figured-fashion-fantasty, but designers are beginning to understand what Lizzo's been singing about. "I'm not a snack at all, baby, I'm the whole damn meal."

Here are a few premium labels worth breaking out your black card for.

Veronica Beard

Nic+Zoe

Rebecca Minkoff

If you're just like Carrie and shopping is your cardio, here are a few places you can get your next sweat session in based on how much dough you've got to work with. If you're able to make it rain, then you can find some of the good stuff at these places.

11 Honore, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue

If you're on a Taco-Tuesday budget and interested in looking fly AF then these spots are a sure-fire win.

H&M, Mango, ASOS Curve, New Look, Target, Eloquii

Get that, 'I'm def feeling myself' look with these tried and true styling tricks.

1. Flex that figure
If the dress does not fit, you must uh-quit wearing it. Figure-hugging silhouettes are better for slimming and elongating your figure. Avoid oversized and boxy cuts that teeter on Kanye's ensemble in the 'Love It' video. Boxes belong on the porch and not on your body.

2. Size matters
Contrary to what some say, size matters, at least when it comes to accessories. Opt for jewelry that is in proportion to your body. Too small and you'll look like you ransacked Polly Pocket's accessory closet. Pro tip—long jewelry (long necklaces and drop earrings) slim the neck and overall silhouette.

3. A little stretch goes a long way
Spandex, modal, elastane, lycra...it all helps tailored silhouettes fit better. Think button-ups or pencil skirts with a touch of the comfy stuff for a form-flattering fit that feels almost as good as a glass of wine and double down episodes of Fleabag.

5. Have a Cinderella moment
Just like our girl Cindy, the perfect slipper will change your life. Pointed toe and low-vamp shoes (where the top of the shoe ends on the top of your foot) have the magical ability to elongate and slim the legs and overall frame. Just make sure not to lose one of these babies at the next rager.
