These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things…To Do While My Husband Is Away

This is me doing what I want!

Everyone knows the saying, “while the cat’s away, the mice will play.” I will have none of that, because mice are gross and my cat lives with my parents. However, in the spirit of this saying, I thought I’d make a fun list of things I enjoy doing while my ginger is away, and that you too can enjoy while your husband, kids, roommate, etc. is gone for the weekend. This is your time to party down kids.

You are a cloud that can’t be pinned down! Go ahead, “Do-Re Mi” to your heart’s content! No one’s around to judge you or tell you to turn down that racket. Feel free to twirl about the living room like you’re on the top of those Austrian hills that are truly alive with the sound of music! Maria would be proud.

Watch back to back “girly” movies.

Finally watch those movies on your Netflix queue that you haven’t gotten to, because your S.O. would rather watch paint dry. I went crazy and watched The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent. In hindsight, maybe that wasn’t such a good idea, because I had no one to hold me during the eulogy parts in TFIOS. Waaaahhhh!

Hog the whole bed.

Spread out kid, it’s all yours…every square inch. Roll around like a pig in shit until you find the right spot. As soon as you do, bask in the gloriousness that is sleeping in a bed all to yourself! I like to let my legs kick out in all directions. Why? Because I can…that’s why.

Eat pancakes for breakfast and dinner.

I love the shit out of breakfast. It’s my favorite meal of the day, so when husband is not here, I eat breakfast all day son! Pancakes for breakfast? Fo sho! Breakfast for dinner? Now we’re talking!

Read out loud in awesome voices.

If you like to read out loud like I do, then this one’s a real gem for you when you’re alone. Is there a character from a small town? I like to give them an Andy Griffith voice. Are they from Brooklyn, New York? Holy crap! I think I hear my cousin Vinny who once saved two yutes.

Watch funny videos with the sound up.
This one’s a big one for me. Husband complains about me always watching videos with the sound up while he’s watching TV. I can’t help it that I’m completely enthralled in the baby elephant video where he’s adorably splashing around in his little giant tub and pooping at the same time!

While I do enjoy all these things VERY MUCH, it really doesn’t compare to snuggling with my favorite ginger in the world. Cue “Something Good” from The Sound of Music.
